The current global crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly increased the demand for face masks, with one commonly available mask (N95) filtering out around 95% of fine dust particles. However, these types of masks come with certain limitations with regard to reusability. Our research team across the world have developed reusable, nanotechnology-based gaiter face masks for increased safety from virus, bacteria, allergens, fungi and dust particles with 99% efficacy.


THE BASIS OF NANOGAITER TECHNOLOGY:
NANOGAITER products contain a mechanical membrane formed by nanofibers. By utilizing cutting-edge nanotechnology, NANOGAITER masks retain even the smallest particles without chemical treatment (bacteria, viruses or allergens). The nanofiber gaiters are disposable and have a reinforced bendable edge that easily adapts to any face shape. They have a verified capture of 99% for virus-sized particles.


NANOTECHNOLOGY IN FOCUS

Nanofibers: Nanofibers are a novel and unique kind of fibrous material with fiber diameter smaller than 1 micron.
The nanofiber is 1000 times thinner than human hair and is invisible to the naked eye. Most manufacturers today use melt blown technology for the production of nanofibers, but Pardam lab we cooperate on filters with uses electrospinning, thanks to which they are able to make fibers much thinner and achieve the highest filtration capabilities.


THE NANOSCALE WORLD
At the nanoscale, the so-called atomic forces come into play. Thanks to these forces, the most critical particle size for trapping on membranes during the air filtration is just 200-300 nm, but smaller particles are easier to trap due to atomic forces! 200-300nm particles pass through the membranes most easily, so filter materials are commonly tested for this size. Particles larger and smaller than 200 - 300nm are trapped on the fibers much more effectively and stick to them, because the so-called Van der Waals forces come into play with small particles. In addition, bacteria and viruses are always bound to other aerosol or dust particles in the suspension, and thus the larger the size.

THE NANOFIBER MEMBRANE

The nanofibers are spun by a nanofiber membrane, which can be imagined as a very dense network or filter. The holes in this filter are so small that an air molecule passes through them, but not a bacterium, virus or allergen. The nanofiber membrane has a tested capture of submicron particles (10 - 400 nm) and is therefore ideal for the capture of various bacteria and viruses (SARS-CoV-2 virus has a reported real size of 80 to 150 nm).


THE ULTIMATE PROTECTION:

The basis of the NANOGAITER is premium quality Wicko active mesh with a nanofiber membrane, which effectively protects against viruses, bacteria, allergens, fungi and dust particles. The gaiter cloth is very thin and breathable, so it is suitable for everyday use even in warmer weather and for sports. It is equipped with adjustable wire over the nose and adjustable comfortable rubber.
